Opening Windows Tools

  1. 1Press Windows + R.
  2. 2Type control admintools and press Enter, or open Start and search for Windows Tools.
  3. 3In Windows 10 the same folder is named Administrative Tools.

Command line equivalents

Almost every entry in the folder is a shortcut to an executable or MMC snap-in, so you can launch them directly from Run, Command Prompt, PowerShell or Windows Terminal. That matters when File Explorer itself is unstable and you need a repair tool.
